Leah Weiner recently completed her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University’s Graduate  School of Education and Psychology. Her dissertation was titled, “The Search for Best Practices: A Case Study of a Volunteer-led Nonprofit Organization.”

She also has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge and a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Wisconsin. Leah has a diverse background of skills including conducting organizational assessments and change initiatives, overseeing the launch of nonprofits, managing small to mid-size nonprofits fundraising strategies, strategic planning, organizational & board development and volunteer management & recruitment.

Leah is also an alumni of Progressive Jewish Alliance’s (PJA) Jeremiah Fellowship Program and serves on the Regional Council for Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, Southern California. She was a participant in the Los Angeles Jewish Federation’s New Leaders Project and in the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce -Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program. In addition, Leah was a 2012 New Leaders Council Institute Fellow, an organization dedicated to training the next generation of progressive political leaders and entrepreneurs.

During her doctorate, Leah began to work on the program model for a volunteer-led organization focused on leadership development. In 2011, Leah launched the Emma Fellowship because she had a strong desire to learn from other accomplished women in Los Angeles and increase the visibility of women leaders.
